St. Vincent 4AD Session

It's not written word, but hopefully it will be enjoyed nonetheless.

A stray thought:
-Holy shit, Annie Clark shreds on guitar. This shouldn't be that much of a surprise or revelation if you've ever listened to her records, but to see it actually performed live only reinforces it.
- All four songs in this set ("Chole In The Afternoon", "Surgeon", "Strange Mercy", "Year Of The Tiger") are off of Strange Mercy. If there's a year end list for this space, we'll be talking about this joint again.
-On "Year Of The Tiger", there's a line about the bourgeois. I throw that word around a lot in my neighborhood for reasons somewhat beyond my understanding.

Enjoy the holidays tonight and tomorrow. I'm going as a member of the press.

Yours Alone

Hi Friends,
So, some good news and some bad news. Anyone that knows me, knows that I'll cut straight to the bad shit. Posts are going to drop off here at a pretty dramatic rate, but it won't be like the last time where I was just suffering from tremendous writer's block and couldn't come up with anything. Those were dark times for us all.
This time, it's actually quite the opposite. I was offered and have accepted a new opportunity. I've been working at it for a few weeks now, but it's just getting started. It's a writing gig, which is exciting considering this space is the closest I've come to ever having a writing job. It's also unpaid, which means that I'm working my 9-5 yawn and then coming home and going straight to work on the new joint.
Now, this isn't the end. I'm still here; holding it down in West Philadelphia. I'll still throw the occasional video up here because, well, I love music videos. Albums will still be bought for less than a pack of cigarettes, and I'll review them but it might just take a bit longer. I should apologize further because I bought a Ted Leo record back in the beginning of August with the intent of writing about it, but I haven't found the words for it yet. I like it, and the songs get stuck in my head when I'm out walking around but beyond that I've struggled with what else to say about it. I'll show up here eventually.
Part of what has held me up is the fact that I've gotten really into Nick Cave. Like big time. It's more or less the only thing I have any real interest in listening to, and there are a myriad of reasons for it. With my own psyche, it makes sense. It works within my current surroundings. And also, in a few weeks Lou Reed will be releasing one of the largest shit sandwiches ever known to man so its time move on.
I'll still continue to post announcements about upcoming releases and tours, but as far as dynamic critical thinking that'll take a bit longer. Sorry. If you ever find yourself absolutely wondering what's on my mind, I am back on twitter so that may be something for you. (@nogiftforthegab)
Ok for now. I'll be back, and it'll be real swell when we meet again.
